Who is responsible
I, Pedro Balas (Oeiras, Portugal), am the controller of personal data collected through this site. For any data request, email me at hello at pedrobalas dot com.
What this site collects
Nothing by itself. There are no cookies or trackers, and the fonts are hosted on this site. Like any website, its hosting provider may keep short-lived server logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security and operation.
Visit statistics
To understand how many people visit this site and which pages they read, I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service from Cloudflare, Inc. (USA). It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and doesn't fingerprint or follow you across sites or over time. When a page loads, your browser sends Cloudflare technical details of that page view: the page address, the referring site, browser and device type, page-load timing, and the country derived from your IP address. Your IP address isn't stored for these statistics. I only see aggregated figures, such as visits, page views, top pages and countries, never individual visitors. Cloudflare processes this data for me as a processor under its Data Processing Addendum. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how the site is used and in keeping it working well. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and its Data Processing Addendum also includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Cloudflare keeps detailed data for 7 days and aggregated data after that; I can view statistics for up to 6 months. If you prefer, you can block the script static.cloudflareinsights.com with any content blocker; the site works the same.
When you book a call or email me
If you book a call through Microsoft Bookings, I receive your name and email, and any phone number or message you choose to add. If you email me, I receive your message and contact details. I use this only to arrange and hold the call and to reply to you. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before a possible contract, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
Who processes it
Microsoft processes this data for me as part of Microsoft 365 and Bookings, within the EU Data Boundary where applicable. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement: privacy.microsoft.com. Cloudflare, Inc. processes visit statistics for me as described above, under its Data Processing Addendum: cloudflare.com/cloudflare-customer-dpa. I don't sell your data or share it for marketing.
How long I keep it
Contact data, including emails, is kept for 24 months after our last contact, unless a contract or the law requires longer.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. Email hello at pedrobalas dot com. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, CNPD: www.cnpd.pt.
